D20 Girls Kentucky: Photoshoot Fun!

D20 Girls Kentucky: Photoshoot Fun!

After three weeks with temperatures under 10-degrees Fahrenheit, the weather has finally warmed up in Kentucky. The leftover snow has melted away, and it almost feels like Springtime has arrived early.

Saying this, another ice storm or bomb cyclone is probably right around the corner, but it is advantageous to enjoy the fifties and sixties while it lasts.

As such, some of the girls from The D20 Girls Project’s Kentucky Chapter decided to hold an impromptu photo shoot to take advantage of the outdoor conditions.

The Kentucky Chapter fell quiet between 2013-2016, when the former Chapter Manager left. Many of the girls stuck around and became writers for NurdMedia instead :)

However, in Autumn 2017, Angela Nicole Chu was hired on as the new Kentucky Chapter Manager, and she brought her right-hand woman Lee Morris on as the Assistant Manager. Together, they have brought in twenty new girls to the organization, and they are hoping to bring in many more over the course of 2018. Chu has also taken on the role of Editor-In-Chief for NurdMedia, and she is working to bring more writers and more traffic to the website.

Chu and Morris’s latest addition to D20 Kentucky is hiring a new Chapter photographer. January 2018 saw the arrival of D0min0-a-g0-g0, a photographer and musician based out of Southern Indiana. D0min0’s calm and charming demeanour is just what the Kentucky Chapter was needing, and so Chu and Morris decided to kidnap D0min0 along for their photo shoot shenanigans. They were also joined by Jocelyn Fisher, a writer for NurdMedia and a model for The D20 Girls Kentucky.

The photography took place on Sunday, January 21st, 2018 on the campus of Bellarmine University, Chu’s alma mater. Bellarmine University is a liberal arts campus that welcomes creativity, so it has become a favourite meeting spot for The D20 Girls Kentucky. The girls camped out in the Dark Room and Library wings of the campus for their shoots.

D0min0 rotated between Chu, Morris, and Fisher to amass the group’s January portfolio. She dealt with the changing lighting conditions with ease, helping each girl into a natural pose and capturing a few candid shots as well. Fellow D20 Girls member Mel Rey was also on hand during the shoot to assist D0min0 with poses and scenery.

The girls all celebrated their post-photoshoot victory with a trip to their favourite Waffle House, which has been a beloved meeting spot for Chu and Morris for many years. D0min0 was able to edit and finalize the photographs quickly and easily, cementing her position in the company.

You can see all of D0min0-a-g0-g0’s photography from the January shoot on the D20 Girls Kentucky’s Facebook Page, as well as additional photos and bios from the other Kentucky girls.
