MySpace Is BACK?? Cheers To MySpace Retro!

We all remember the good old days of MySpace. It is where a lot of us learned basic HTML for coding our blinged out profiles. It is where a lot of us found our favourite bands via the site’s music players. It is where we laughed as we caused turmoil throughout our friend groups by changing the order of our Top 8 on a weekly basis.

And then Facebook reared its ugly head and killed it.

A lot of people truly love and miss MySpace, and there have been several failed attempts in recent years to revive interest in the site. Most notoriously was Justin Timberlake’s attempt at turning MySpace into a simplified, music-based site in 2011. While the site was nice for a few days, many people quickly turned their backs on it. It just wasn’t the same. It wasn’t the MySpace we had all grown to love during our adolescence. MySpace was just…gone.

That was until Kris Galante came along.

Kris has created a version of the 2010-era MySpace called “MySpace Retro”, finally bringing us a piece of the past that has been dwelling inside our forever-emo hearts. The layout is an exact replica, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Users can add a profile song, make status updates, choose his or her personal Top 8 (well, Top 11 in this case), and even use the ancient profile layouts still lurking on Google to customize the way the page looks. It’s like the site never went away!

Of course, MySpace Retro is still a work in progress, and I am not sure if Galante anticipated such a response to the site. MySpace Retro has been known to crash quite frequently over the past week, as the servers have become overloaded. Features such as uploading profile pics and searching for friends do not always work, and the custom URL option forever loops you to the “Edit Profile” screen. Still, beggars can’t be choosers, and I am more than happy to wait patiently while Galante irons out the kinks if it means that I can get my beloved MySpace back in its original form.

Check out the video below to watch my process in customizing my own personal MySpace Retro page, and feel free to search for me and give me an add if you, too, wish to take a trip to the mid-2000s :)
