For the past 10 years, I have been apart of the cosplay community. I have seen it grow so much since 2008. I’ve seen so many faces of it from the light-hearted friendly side to the dark and toxic side Continue reading →
Cosplay has become the fastest growing hobby in the geek community. Who doesn’t love dressing up as their favorite characters, meeting new friends, and getting recognized for all their hard work? But as much as we love it, cosplaying can also be time-consuming, expensive, and stressful! Sometimes you just want an easy, comfortable cosplay that you can throw together at the last minute. Well fret no more! We’ve compiled some tips and ideas to help you create easy DIY cosplays.
Before I give my opinion on this touchy subject, I want to point out I’ve been cosplaying since 2009. My first con was Momocon, and I can safely say the cosplay community has changed, but not for the worse like Continue reading →
This month on The Chic Geek, I’m featuring an outfit inspired by Jinx from League of Legends. Known in the League-verse as The Loose Cannon, she is a crazy girl with big guns and a pretty killer outfit.
We’ve all heard about Cosplay Is Not Consent. We’ve seen the signs at various conventions and we’ve read all the blogs on the internet that we can find. But what we have not seen is a safe place for those Continue reading →

On this installment of The Chic Geek does Adventure Time, I’m getting scientific with Princess Bubblegum and Lady Rainicorn.
Princess Bubblegum has worn a lot of fabulous outfits throughout the series(generously utilizing the color pink), but I’ve chosen to use the outfit from season 1, seen in the picture below. To recreate this look start with a light blue dress and a pink cardigan, then pay tribute to the candy kingdom by adding some sweet accessories. Since Lady Rainicorn doesn’t actually wear anything, all you need to do is deck yourself out in rainbows and unicorns(and please feel free to prance around shamelessly as you relive your childhood fantasies).
Now in it’s 6th year C2E2 (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo) has had it’s home in the windy city of Chicago. Held in the city’s convention center downtown, the McCormick Place. C2E2 is put together by ReedPOP which also runs New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, UFC Fan Expo and Penny Arcade Expo, so it’s safe to say they know what they’re doing.
Midorifest is the smaller, mid-year, two-day anime convention spun off of larger, sister convention, “Midoricon”. Located at Southern Ohio’s stunningly, beautiful Shawnee State Park Lodge, Midorifest is timed perfectly to celebrate the blooming foliage around the park.
